Mandu
was born a Kiwi of Burmese parents but became a true blue Aussie after
he was adopted by Patti. He was one of six in his litter and quickly
overcame the stigma of being born a Kiwi.
As
a kitten he was full of energy and diligently took his 16-hour naps
each day without coaxing. He loved to keep Patti amused and would
play with her measuring tape...day in and day out, day in and day
out, day in and day out....without a grumble.
He
followed Patti back to Canberra in 1989. And when Patti was offered
another posting overseas, he decided that tripping around the world
wasn't his bag and decided to move in with her parents, Margaret and
John, in Mudgee.
The
rural life in Mudgee suited him and he soon established himself in
his neighbourhood. He was not averse to asserting his authority to
ensure that his territory and the garden was free of unwelcome
guests, both furry and feathered.
His
sartorial style improved over the years and it was a sight to behold
him with his ribbon and bells doing his rounds of the garden.
As
he grew older, his health steadily worsened but he was always in
good spirits.
